The Horizon T202 is the middle model of a three model line - the T101, T202, and T203. As you might expect, it is midrange, with a mix of features from the other two in its line. Considering that it runs about $800 online, the features are surprisingly good - 2.5 horsepower motor, maximum 12% incline and 12 mph, plus a decent amount of built in workouts.

  • Its dimensions are 70 x 33 x 58 inches.

Special Features (Pros) of the Horizon T202 Treadmill:

PerfectFlex Plus cushioning - We all know that running is tough on your joints, so it’s imperative that your treadmill has cushioning technology. The PerfectFlex Plus cushioning is a system created to take the strain off of your knees and joints.

Console - The console on this Horizon treadmill manual includes 2 display windows and COOLfit fan - designed to cool you off when you need it most. The screens are large, with a brickyard display so you can easily glance down and check your progress. No need for toggling around and trying to figure out what you’re reading. You’ll be able to read this screen easily, without getting distracted from the task at hand.

Drawbacks (Cons) of the Horizon T202 Treadmill:

Running belt - The belt is 20 inches by 55 inches, and while this is acceptable, it isn’t the most ideal. 20 by 60 inches is the very best you can expect, and provides enough running space for even the tallest of runners. Anything shorter, and you might find yourself shortening your stride. The belt itself is only 1.44 millimeters thick, which is just one ply. Higher quality belts are at least double ply, and sometimes even four ply. This is to be expected with budget-friendly treadmills, but it’s still important to note.

Programs - The T202 treadmill offers 12 programs with three targets to choose from - distance, time, and calorie burn. They also offer 4 workouts which include manual, weight loss, intervals, and hills. Though this is acceptable, it’s certainly not extensive. The ProForm 600i treadmill, for example, has  22 different built in programs and is otherwise comparable to the T202.

Independent Reviews for the Horizon T202 Treadmill:

You know the specs, the features, and the functions. What are other people saying? Let’s take a look at a few reviews from around the web.

Treadmillreviews.com - According to this review, the Horizon treadmill T202 is an all-purpose treadmill on a budget. They note that the cushioning system is great and the workout programs are sufficient. It’s also Bluetooth smart, so users can stream music while they run. They note that the motor is quiet and strong enough to power you through any workout. They, too, note the issues with the thin belt, but advise that this is common in budget treadmills.

Treadmillreviewguru.com - This review states that the Horizon T202 treadmill manual has lots of helpful features for its affordable price. They note that it is one of the best treadmills on the market if you’re looking for a quiet, compact treadmill. They do note that it lacks tech options, like chest heart rate strap or touch screen. They also don’t like that the fan is weak and the treadmill itself isn’t made for serious running. If you’re looking for a solid walking or jogging treadmill, they say this is a great option.

What Do Amazon Customers Have To Say About the Horizon T202 Treadmill?

One verified purchaser starts their review by saying, “If you're considering this treadmill, know that I wouldn't hesitate to replace the one I have with the exact same model.” After this strong start, they note that the packaging perfectly protected the treadmill, as the exterior appeared battered but once they opened the box, the pieces were in great condition. They remark that assembly was straightforward. They go on to note that if you need to adjust the belt, do so in micro adjustments - aka small adjustments to either side. They found success by giving the treadmill several revolutions to stabilize changes to the belt before adjusting further. They go on to say that acceleration and deceleration are smooth, predictable, and comfortable. The reviewer states that they’re 6’1” and are able to run on the belt just fine. They also appreciate the cushioning. One con that they note is that the treadmill does have a very loud beep. When you turn the machine on, the beep goes off and it could wake the neighbors.

Another reviewer notes how heavy the treadmill was, and that assembly and movement may require more than one person. They note that of all the treadmills they’ve tried before, they find the Horizon T202 very user-friendly in comparison. They go on to say that there are some features that they simply ignore as they don’t find them useful, like the iPod dock. They also note some discrepancies between the heart rate monitor on the treadmill and their own personal heart rate monitor. This is to be expected, as heart rate sensor handles cannot get the same, consistent heart rate as one you can wear. This user also notes that the machine comes with a bottle of lubricant which must be applied to the platform under the belt. While they were able to do so, it was messy - they recommend buying a large spray bottle of the lubricant to use instead. Overall, the reviewer says the treadmill works great, is well constructed, and is very easy to use.

Bottom Line:

This treadmill is a great add to your Horizon home gym if you are on a budget. It is pretty standard for its price range in terms of motor size, belt size, speed, and incline options. Price considered, it does pack a lot of extras that you might not expect - such as surround sound speakers, high quality display, and advanced cushioning technology to name a few. If you’re on the market for a treadmill to do light exercise, especially walking or jogging, this is a great treadmill. If you’re looking for something to use for more aggressive running, you might keep looking for a treadmill with a more powerful engine, a wider range of programs, and a longer, more durable belt.
